For anyone struggling with the issue of having this waveform work in the Flash IDE but not when published, make sure that the domain that is serving the audio stream has a crossdomain.xml file that allows access to all (*).

Also make sure that the 'checkPolicyFile' for the Netstream object is set to true! This took me quite a while to figure out...

I searched the Web plenty of similar files for Flash,but all of it is done by the help of timeline of Flash.I think,that it is not good way.When you will create more difficult file then the one will not be markedly providing an easy survey.Well done...
I am sorry for my mistakes of text,because I am from the Czech republic and my English is not anything special:-).Keep it up

Hello, I've got few problems. When I load locally hosted .mp3 there are no problems, but when I try to load stream ( ex. "http://scfire-ntc-aa07.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1003" ) then it works only as a preview ( ctrl+enter ). When I publish it, stream plays, but equalizer doesn't appear. Please help.

I downloaded the source and add an extra layer with 4 buttons(like in the tutorial) and the AS code and i've got this error: "1180: Call to a possibly undefined method addFrameScript."

great class, thanks a lot bartek!
for all of you with problems while streaming a "rtmp://" source:
check the computeSpectrum() API from adobe:

"This method is supported over RTMP in Flash Player 9.0.115.0 and later and in Adobe AIR. You can control access to streams on Flash Media Server in a server-side script. For more information, see the Client.audioSampleAccess and Client.videoSampleAccess properties in Server-Side ActionScript Language Reference for Adobe Flash Media Server."

for more information check this:

http://livedocs.adobe.com/flashmediaserver/3.0/docs/help.html?content=08_xmlref_053.html

cheers,
ron

pozdrawiam

hi,
this kind of error :"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference ..." appears when you have diferent domains for flash-player and mp3 source. If you will have the same url for both you will not find any error. Works great with all browsers, and with 2-3 players on the same browser. Great job :) If you respect the rule mentioned above, it will work greeeeat

Hey man, great work! I know this is probably a dead thread, but I have a question. I am modifying this to use with a voice generator, but my issue is that I can't find where to make the bars drop faster, what file should I be looking at, and what line specifically?

Once again, great job m8.

Great Job on the Equalizer!
I just have only one issue. Did anyone managed to get the Equalizer working with a NetStream object? (FMS)
I have seen the previous post about it but with no success.

Thanks again for some great work!

        trans.volume=0;
        SoundMixer.soundTransform = trans;
    } else {
        musicOn = true;
        trans.volume=1;
        SoundMixer.soundTransform = trans;

Hello again,

I dug some further and it happened with all the other equalizers as well, the first equalizers stops from working if another is opened, looks like you can't have 2 eqs at the same time with AS3. The only one that doesn't have any effect is the eq on Myspace, but that's probably coded in Flex I suppose?
Thank you for a great script nevertheless, I will be using it in my projects from now on.

Cheers, Andrewsas.

Hello Bartek.

First of all, thanks for the great script. I don't think I've seen anything like that before.

I ran into a problem, though. When I had implemented your equalizer into my player and then on tried to view it on Firefox it loads well unless there already was a Flash page opened that was playing sound.

I did change my player a bit so the equalizer wouldn't start before the sound was already loaded, but without any success. Maybe you have a solution for this?

Thank you,
Andrewsas

@JC :) In AS some methods expect color defined as RGB (ex. 0xab23d4) and sometimes as ARGB (ex. 0xff2983f2). This can be a little bit confusing at the beginning.
