Hi Bartek, just wanted to say thank you very much for the review, fascinating to hear how the book is being received. I've worked with Unity for a few years but am originally from a design background and always felt a little bewildered compared to peers in the IRC channel, and so hopefully this resource will help people like me starting out in Unity who aren't coming at it from a coding background. Hope you all enjoy it, cheers again Bartek, I am humbled!

@Scott Petrovic Totally agreed. Code structuring inside a project seems to me like the biggest challenge - Unity3D is a bit different from Flash, but it's pretty easy to make a mess very similar to what people (including me) used to do in early Flash i.e. spread code across tens of keyframes...

I have read over half of the book and think it is pretty beneficial for someone who has little game design experience. I have done some programming being a web designer, but a lot of concepts are unique to game design. It is an "essentials" book, so I don't think you can really expect it to also talk about advanced topics as well.

I think if another book is being written, it should be more of a reference manual for the API as well as having structure and networking hurdles. Will's book covers the basics pretty well, so any more books that come out will be hard to compete if it is at the same level.

thanks for posting the review. I'm just started wading into Unity and was thinking about grabbing the book.

I agree 100% that it's nice to have a solid resource in your hands instead of 10 bookmarked pages and forums. Forums are def a valuable resource, but not always easy to navigate.

After reading your review - the book looks like a great place to start.
